Lewis Health Policy Symposia 2017: Opioid Crisis

9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Eric P. Newman Education Center, 320 S. Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110

The opioid epidemic took front and center state as our #1 Public Health crisis when it was reported that more than 50,000 people died of drug overdoses in the US last year, more than handgun homicides and MVC’s combined. The blame game started and emergency physicians appear to often be in the center of the controversy.

This multi-disciplinary symposium will bring experts from Mental Health and Emergency Medicine along with public officials to discuss the opioid crisis and several potential clinical and political approaches to begin to address it.

The symposium will occur August 22nd from 9AM – 12PM at the Eric P. Newman Education Center located on Washington University School of Medicine campus. The symposium is free, so please come – bring a friend- and share your ideas and concerns. Questions or ideas for the symposium, please email Lisa Hayes at hayesl@wustl.edu
