I began my clinical work at Washington University in November 2001, a long time it seems. Actually, I had my first job at Washington University in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics the summer of my junior year of college, so even further back. Washington University has been a wonderful institution throughout, even more so now.
My current principal area of interest is improving the care of those visiting our medical campus who are particularly challenging, often from an adverse mix of clinical, social, behavioral and addictive burdens they face. The collaborative processes of working with colleagues not just within the emergency department but also within other departments, hospital administration, and the broader community has been both productive and fulfilling. I’ve learned how to identify issues relevant to this patient population to those most pertinent to my “audience,” whether interventional radiology, a chief financial officer, or community services provider.
In my recent role as President of the Medical Staff Association, I also have been fortunate to work with many within hospital and university leadership, gaining a better understanding of their priorities, challenges, and burdens.
As a mentee, you do not have any needs from me. I am here as a resource for you, willing to meet and discuss as needed, with whatever frequency addresses your needs.
