For a third year, our department is offering an exciting research program this summer known as EMERGE. It is a six-week program from June 8th to July 17th. We are accepting applications thru March 1.

Our Brian Froelke, MD, was part of teamwork that helped save a life at a local high school soccer game this past October. Thanks to emergency medicine expertise and help from a monitor and defibrillator, Dr. Froelke assisted in getting the young man stable enough to be transported to the hospital for further assessment.

Meet this year’s Emergency Medicine fellows! They have been busy this month doing great things for our department. We are proud to have all of them as part of our team.

Big news!! Effective July 1, WashU Medicine will extend its Emergency Medicine physician and advance practice providers at additional BJC HealthCare hospitals.

Match Day took place on March 21, 2025. Our department is excited to announce the newest members of our WashU Emergency Medicine family.

Our department chair, Opeolu Adeoye, MD, MS, recently led a large multi-center national NIH funded clinical trial entitled Multi-arm Optimization of Stroke Thrombolysis (MOST).

Our Vice Chair of Education, Jason Wagner, MD, has recently been selected as a member of The Academy of Educators at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) has launched its Neuro-EM Scholars Program.

The EMERGE program offers an introduction to emergency care research and emergency medicine careers.

Congratulations to emergency medicine fellow Adam Heilmann, MD, for being honored with an Excellence in Patient Care Award.

Congratulations to Randy Jotte, MD, who received the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Dr. Neville Grant Award for Clinical Excellence.
