The goal of the Emergency Care Research Core (ECRC) is to provide a centralized infrastructure to support investigators conducting clinical or translational research in the area of emergency care. Many challenges exist in efficiently conducting emergency care research, including the unpredictable nature of acute illness and injury, time-dependent diagnoses and interventions, and the unique emergency environment. By offering resources ranging from consultation on project design to recruitment and enrollment of study patients, the ECRC will enhance the ability of individual investigators across medical disciplines to conduct studies in emergency care.
Special areas of interest and expertise of the ECRC include:
- Acute illness and exacerbation of chronic illness
- Acute injury
- Acute diagnostics and evidence-based algorithms in diagnostic strategies
- Interventional clinical trials requiring time-sensitive interventions
- Pre- and post-hospital coordination of care
- Patient safety and quality in emergency diagnosis and treatment
- Underserved populations
If your research in these areas would benefit from additional resources focused on the emergency care environment, contact us to discuss how the ECRC can support your project.
